March 26th: Against the Tide Coastal Erosion Clip
If you follow me on Twitter you’ll know that I’ve long used Alan Parkinson’s LivingGeography blog as an invaluable source of all things geographical. I regularly sit down to do a ‘deep dive’ into what he’s shared and what could be useful for the classroom. Alan recently shared that the short ‘Against The tide’ documentary was now available on ITVX and so I sat down to watch it. Although I don’t often teach the Coasts topic of A-Level geography, I could see the value in asking students to watch this 20-minute clip as part of their independent work and so made this short question sheet for them to complete as they do so- with language aligned to the Edexcel A-Level specification.

March 19th: 4 days of rivers fieldwork completed
After a busy February with lots of presenting and CPD, I’m pleased that things slowed down a little as we entered March! CPD was replaced with rivers fieldwork and I’ve just finished leading 2 days fieldwork for 2 different schools. Most of our Trust schools use the River Chess for their fieldwork with one using the River Cray.

An example (but old!) rivers fieldwork booklet can be downloaded for free here. I’ve since simplified what we do down to 2 sites but hopefully this booklet will be a useful starting point!
