This is one of two schemes of work based on a book that I have shared widely and frequently spoken about using. Whilst elements of this scheme of work are certainly still of value, I think it’s important to recognise that (particularly post-Covid) many elements are now outdated and so, personally, I would no longer teach it in its entirety as shared in this blog here.
-
As with Factfulness above, this is a scheme of work based around a book and a series of lessons that I have loved teaching since first introducing in 2018. However, in an ever-changing world, elements of it will need updating and perhaps completely removing. The blog and resources can be found here.

I remember being a new HOD tasked with creating fieldwork resources and having no idea where to start! With that in mind, I have shared this booklet as one example of a booklet to use with GCSE students. It is written for the Edexcel B GCSE course.

I remember being a new HOD tasked with creating fieldwork resources and having no idea where to start! With that in mind, I have shared this booklet as one example of a booklet to use with GCSE students. It was written for the Edexcel B GCSE course and also as a PDF here. This booklet is what I used to use and is much more detailed than my preferred style now. The booklet I use now is shared here.

Owing to the number of past papers now available, I have made two copies of this booklet this year. This copy is just the official past papers from the exam board. This copy has all of the questions from the 3 textbooks in it too. Neither booklet contains the 2025 exam paper questions as these are locked and kept for mocks! I give this booklet to Year 13 each Easter as a revision tool and it always goes down so well!

This A5 summary sheet of the question structure of the Edexcel A-Level is the first piece of paper that I get Year 12s to put into their folders!

This handout summarises the key information from the Global Water Resources 2024 Report that links to their studies (on the Edexcel course). Students read, unpacked and linked the information to their other knowledge before answering the questions at the end.

Resources for teaching Edexcel Paper 3 and details of my favoured approach are shared here.

Students often struggle to know where to look for high quality secondary data for their NEA. I share this presentation with them to kickstart their ideas and show them what they could use.

Climate Change Education Resources
As COP26 approached, I worked with the Mayor’s office and the Museum of London to produce a set of resources for teaching about, and engaging students with, COP26. These resources are designed to be used by all- geography teachers and non-specialists alike. Designed as three interconnected 20-minute sessions, they could be delivered as a one hour lesson or across three tutor time slots.
